The Department of Neurology, University Hospital, University of Zurich, Switzerland, offers a Master's position in the Experimental Sleep Laboratory. The laboratory studies the impact of sleep on functional recovery and neuroplasticity. Our current project in a rat model of brain trauma (TBI) includes deciphering the effect of sleep modulation on electrophysiological and cellular pathways involved in neuroplasticity and functional recovery following difusse brain lesions. We study dynamic changes during TBI recovery in EEG-defined sleep and sleep transitions by state-space analysis.
Applicants with a background in biology, physics, psychology or any other discipline related to neuroscience will be considered. Experience/knowledge of rodent sleep is a plus. Strong oral and written skills in English are mandatory (German is a plus).
Candidates should send their CV and the names and contact information of references (two at least) to Dr. Christian Baumann (christian.baumann@usz.ch) and Dr. Daniela Noain (Daniela.noain@usz.ch)
